4th of July...
So here's the view from the apartment we're in! First shot is looking east to Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head.
Next, looking straight out past the Discovery Bay towers is the Ala Moana marina.
Thirds shot is looking out west over Ala Moana park out towards Pearl Harbour and the Waianae Mountains.
So we spent today checking out our immediate neighbourhood and seeing what happens on the 4th of July. Answer is, not much. Seems everyone heads for the beach parks and camps in the sun. For an Australian raised on slip, slop, slap, seeing so many burnt people is more than a little disconcerting. Here's Rochelle looking unimpressed by Waikiki Beach.
And here we are wading in the lagoon by the Hilton Hawaiian Village - it was quite warm, so it was nice to cool off...
And here's the fireworks out over the harbour - 50 000 people in the park, lots of them brought down tents and bbqs and the whole works, quite a little city out there. Rochelle has now found an NCIS marathon on TV and has settled in for the evening. Tomorrow's going to be house hunting and getting the hell out of Waikiki.

So, do beach views beat Brindy views? Hope finding your own home will make you smile more. :-) Need to update your profile too.
Not better or worse. Just different... Mind you, there's no way in hell I'd live in Waikiki permanently.
suitably chastised for not leaving a comment over the weekend. didn't know you could.
breaking news in canberra...there is wet stuff outside!!! and some this morning too. A miracle, just in time for WYD. Am tempted to track down some of the merchandise, pope on a rope has allegedly made a comeback.
of lesser importance, have just been offered a promotion. no idea what it is (something to do with project management ) but the director is good and it is in a new team within my branch. daz is a bad influence, feeling the pressure to also grow up and get a real job. erkk, that means more suits, i hate clothes shopping!

Yep, looks just like the South coast. Speaking of which, the waves were awesome last weekend and I was able to get a few hours out on the wave ski and lazing around in just my shorts. As per Sarah's comments, it's been wet and cold in Canberra this week but that means lots of snow in the mountains. This coming weekend might be the weekend to christen the ski season.
Sair - watch out with that growing up stuff - we know where it might lead! (Kieran says "Hawaii?" but Rochelle says "the dark side")
